HIPS SCRAPPED (May 20, 2010)
The Government has today announced that with effect from 21st May 2010 anyone selling their home will not now need to provide a Home Information Pack, although the energy performance certificate, which ranks the energy efficiency of a home will be retained and must be produced by the seller within 28 days of putting a home on the market.
Penleys welcome this news and consider this to be a boost for the housing market. Penleys has always provided their own HIP service but has always considered it was an unnecessary expense on the seller of a property and therefore where Penleys have undertaken the sale of the property only third party costs such as Engery Assessor costs etc. have been passed on and therefore many clients have saved money on their Conveyancing costs through Penleys.
Whilst it is acknowledged and regretted that the Government's decision to scrap HIPs is likely to be detrimental to some individuals it is hoped that our links with Energy Assessors will enable us to continue to assist in obtaining the Energy Performance Certificates for clients who instruct us on the sale of a property.
